No matter what type of party you're planning -- whether it's the company holiday party, corporate retreat, cocktail party, birthday dinner, wedding ceremony and reception, The Abbey makes a stunning backdrop for your event. The courtyard patio -- located between the Abbey building and the old Rectory -- boasts heirloom rose gardens, fountains, and an outside bar. It's the ideal way to incorporate the outdoors in your event.
Built in the 1850's, the building now known as the 9th Street Abbey has enjoyed a long varied past. Built as St. Paul's German Evangelical Church, the original congregation left in 1911. In 1924 part of St. John Nepomuk, located on Tucker & Lafayette Streets, occupied the building as Holy Trinity Slovak Church until 1986. Patty Long Catering, Inc. bought the building and converted into a special events venue in 1992.

Located at 112 Sidney Street, Beyond Broadway was formerly the site of the A.E. Schmidt billiards factory. This building dates back to 1847 and stands on the original banks of the Mississippi River. It offers a relaxed, warm, inviting space with a rustic ambiance. A grand stone fireplace sets off the main area of this charming venue, along with punched tin ceilings and a large built-in dance floor. A newly constructed patio allows seating and space for guests to stand and relax in an outdoor setting.

Located at 1808 South 9th Street in historic Soulard. Built in the 1850’s, the 9th Street Loft was a former classroom in the Abbey building. Celebrate your special event and enjoy an intimate evening atop our gorgeous 9th Street Abbey. This space offers a beautiful view overlooking our courtyard garden and patio. The exposed brick walls and cedar flooring create a rustic, yet elegant atmosphere ideal for any style. This versatile space guarantees an enchanting experience for any occasion.

Joan Long started Patty Long Catering over 25 years ago. Her fun-loving and positive spirit paired with her natural gift for hospitality has made her vision for her company a reality. Joan has achieved awards most recently including St. Louis Small Business Monthly’s Top Women Business Owner 2011, 2012, 2013, ISES Icon Award 2011, and the Wish Upon a Wedding Shining Star Award 2010. Joan enjoys volunteering and serves on the boards at the YMCA, St. Peter and Paul, and Harris House. Joan enjoys spending time with her husband and kids, retreating to their farm in Houston, Missouri, working out at the YMCA, and enjoying the Soulard neighborhood whenever and however she can!
Jacqueline was a 2011 addition to the PLC team. A St. Louis native and diehard Cardinals baseball fan, she continues to reside in St. Louis with her high school sweetheart and two children. Her educational background focused on Early Childhood Education but her heart continued to bring her back to the hospitality industry. Jacqueline has spent 18 years in the field. That experience and passion has shaped her into an extraordinary General Manager. Jacqueline’s exceptional people skills and organization obsession along with a knack for teaching and inspiring others make her successful when overseeing all aspects of Patty Long Catering. She works hard to continue growing the business with the integrity that Joan started it with.
Julia joined the PLC team in 2009. She was born and raised in Belleville, Illinois, but now happily resides in St. Louis with husband and Boston Terriers. Her educational background, focused in Hospitality Management and Business Administration, paired with a creative mind and passion for great food make her a successful Catering Sales Manager. Julia books two of Patty Long Catering’s exclusive venues --the 9th Street Abbey & 9th Street Loft. She focuses on ensuring each client has a personal, customized, and unforgettable party.
Darla joined the PLC team in May of 2014. She is a 2013 graduate of the University of Missouri, Columbia where she studied Hospitality Management, focusing in Event and Country Club management. After working as an Event Planning Assistant and a Food and Beverage Supervisor, coming to Patty Long Catering seemed like it would be the perfect fit. Darla coordinates all of the 9th Street Abbey and 9th Street Loft’s events, helping the client finalize all of the catering selections and décor details. She loves working with each new and different client, and most of all seeing them enjoy their well-executed event.
Jayne joined the PLC team in the summer of 2014 coming from years of rich experience in the hospitality industry. Her passions, besides selling catering, are cooking, baking, interior design and music. She is also a zumba advocate and loves to dance. Jayne has done public relations for an iconic New York City restaurant/banquet venue, spent years with local hotels selling and coordinating wedding receptions, fund-raisers and corporate events while gaining a loyal client base. Her natural ability to put clients at ease and love of helping achieve the perfect event while developing strong long-term relationships is a huge strength in the hospitality industry. She is a professional, calming, and reassuring presence. Jayne is the proud mother of two accomplished daughters – a nurse and an art history professor- in-training. Trying out new recipes and choosing color schemes are two of her favorite ways to relax. She is also an avid reader and lover of all types of music.
Dan has been part of the PLC team since 2000. He is a St. Louis native with over 33 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Owning and operating his own restaurant, Black-Tie Gourmet, for over 12 years contributed immensely to his expertise. Dan’s extensive knowledge of all things catering, together with his creative flair, deliver standing ovations from our guests.
Chef Beau enjoys living in south St. Louis with his wife, 6 year old son Beau Jr. and dog, Apollo. Beau attended culinary school in southern California and soon-after began his culinary journey working aboard Clipper Cruise Lines, where he thrived on the challenge of preparing cuisine for a wide array of palettes, given a limited amount of resources. Beau prides himself in developing unique and personal menus and concepts for various hotels and restaurants throughout the Midwest. When he isn’t cooking in the Patty Long Catering kitchen, Chef Beau enjoys reading and doing activities with his son. .
